Sunflower oil is generally thought of as a healthy option, but let’s have a closer look……
Sunflower oil (as well as Canola, Soybean, Corn and Safflower oil) is refined, so it’s not an organic healthy oil. Processed oils include a greater trans-fat content, and when talking about fats, trans is bad!
The good and bad fats
Fats that are bad for you

Vegetable oils, such as Sunflower Oil may cause considerable health issues!
Not all fats are bad, some are essential for good health. Bad fats are trans fats and vegetable fats – these are the ones you really need to keep away from.
Bad fats (trans and vegetable) increase our risk of excessive weight, cancer and heart disease.
Bad, bad and also very bad.
(I think that we could probably add the ‘very’ to all three bads!)
Why are these kind of fats so bad?
Because they are not natural. These fats are actually vegetable oils which have undergone a synthetic process that makes use of high pressured hydrogen and a variety of chemicals to transform them from oils into fats.
Vegetable oils are harmful for the body. They are able to cause considerable damage to your organs, in particular the lung tissue and reproductive process. Frightening stuff!
One study even claims that vegetable oils release dangerous cancer-causing chemicals.
Additional research indicates that a diet that is rich in vegetable oils can lead to toxicity of the liver, reduced autoimmune system and even learning disabilities! All bad. Very very bad.
So what about the good fats?
Fats that are healthy

Coconut Oil beats Sunflower Oil! Coconut oil is the ideal healthy replacement for Sunflower oil
In contrast to popular belief, saturated fats and cholesterol are in fact good fats, and our bodies need them in order to function effectively.
What’s the answer? Stay away from using vegetable oils, like soybean, canola, sunflower, corn and safflower and as an alternative opt for natural oils, like coconut or krill.
Healthy oils may very well cost a bit more in the short term, but think about the big picture. Isn’t your own long term physical health worth spending a few extra cash? Besides, treatment plans for all those scary medical problems linked to bad fats have a considerable price tag as well!
