Which fats are good for you?

Sunflower oil is often considered to be a healthy option, but let’s have a closer look……

Sunflower oil (as well as Canola, Soybean, Corn and Safflower oil) is refined, so it’s not an organic healthy oil. Refined oils possess a higher trans-fat content, and when you are considering fats, trans is bad!

Good and Bad Fats…

Bad fats

Refined oils, such as sunflower oil can lead to serious health issues, you really need to avoid them!

Vegetable oils, like Sunflower Oil may cause considerable health issues!

Not all fats are bad, several are absolutely essential for good health. Bad fats are trans fats and vegetable fats – these are the ones you want to keep away from.

Bad fats (trans and vegetable) increase our risk of excessive weight, cancer and coronary disease.

Bad, bad and also very bad.

(I would say that we could probably include the ‘very’ to all three bads!)

So just why are these kind of fats so bad?

Because they are not natural. These kinds of fats are in fact vegetable oils which have been subject to a synthetic process that makes use of high pressured hydrogen and various chemical compounds to convert them from oils into fats.

Vegetable oils are bad for your body. They are able to cause considerable damage to your organs, especially the lungs and reproductive system. Terrifying stuff!

One study even claims that vegetable oils release toxic cancer-causing chemicals.

Other research has shown that a diet which is rich in vegetable oils can result in toxicity of the liver, lowered defense mechanisms and learning disabilities! All bad. Very very bad.

Not all fats are bad for you...

Fats that are healthy

Coconut Oil is better for your health than Sunflower Oil!

Coconut Oil trumps Sunflower Oil! Coconut oil is the ideal healthy substitute for Sunflower oil

In contrast to popular belief, saturated fats and cholesterol are in reality good fats, and our bodies need them in order to function properly.

What’s the answer? Stay away from using vegetable oils, like soybean, canola, sunflower, corn or safflower and as an alternative select natural oils, like coconut or krill.

Healthy oils will probably cost a little more in the short term, but think of the big picture. Isn’t your own long term well being worth investing a few extra cash? Besides, treatments for all those frightening medical issues linked to bad fats have a substantial price tag too!
